Brown Advisory, an independent and privately held global investment management firm that oversees approximately $121.6 billion in client assets, has appointed Serena Sim as Head of Intermediary Sales, Asia to further strengthen its presence in the APAC region. Sim joins from Janus Henderson, where she was Head of Intermediary Sales for Southeast Asia. In her new role in Brown Advisory’s Singapore office, Sim will work closely with the existing investment and business development teams to add further expertise and insight for clients.
Sim’s appointment follows the opening of Brown Advisory’s Singapore office in 2019, which came in response to an increasing interest in the firm’s U.S and global equity and fixed income strategies, and a rising demand for its sustainable investing expertise in the region. Walter Beckett, Head of Asia Pacific at Brown Advisory, manages the Singapore office, which has raised more than $1 billion in assets from clients based in the APAC region. Together with Beckett and the rest of the team, Sim will work to further enhance Brown Advisory’s global perspective, add value for its APAC clients and bolster the firm’s presence in the region.
Walter Beckett, Head of Asia Pacific at Brown Advisory, said: “Serena’s experience in the Southeast Asian intermediary space will be hugely beneficial for the development of the business in our region as we look to build on the success of the last three years. Our growing team in Asia enables us to offer access to Brown Advisory’s distinguished investment capabilities as we reach a broader group of clients.”
On joining Brown Advisory, Sim said: “Brown Advisory boasts a proven track record and flourishing growth in the APAC region. I’m excited to contribute to and build on the firm’s already accomplished and expanding global presence. I look forward to leveraging my 15 years’ experience in business development to secure new opportunities for Brown Advisory and to provide our clients with a unique offering and strong local support.”
