DLA Piper Named Pro Bono Firm of the Year Award by the Houston Tahirih Justice Center

DLA Piper is pleased to announce it has received the Pro Bono Firm of the Year award from the Houston Tahirih Justice Center, a non-profit legal services provider that assists immigrant survivors fleeing gender-based violence.

For over a decade, DLA Piper has worked closely with the Tahirih Justice Center’s Houston Office to secure lawful immigration status and security for women and girls fleeing violence. Tahirih honored DLA Piper with this annual award in recognition of the firm’s long held commitment to protecting immigrant survivors of gender-based violence through pro bono legal services.

“We are grateful and humbled by this recognition,” said DLA Piper pro bono partner Lisa Dewey. “Our work with this impactful organization aligns with the firm’s commitment to supporting access to justice, particularly for children and asylum seekers.”

“It is an honor to be recognized for our work with Tahirih Justice Center,” said Cara Vasquez, the DLA Piper attorney who accepted the award on behalf of the firm. “We are proud to play a role in supporting Tahirih’s mission of advocating for immigrant survivors in what can be a complex and intimidating system.”
