Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center’s 30th Annual Thanksgiving Basket Brigade Set for Sunday, November 20

Volunteers will deliver more than 1,200 Thanksgiving meals to families caring for a child with special healthcare needs

For 30 years, volunteers and sponsors have come together to ensure that families caring for a child with special healthcare needs at Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) can depend on a festive Thanksgiving meal to brighten the holiday.

The annual Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center Thanksgiving Basket Brigade is set for Sunday, November 20 beginning at 9 a.m. Volunteers from the community and local businesses will pick up their Thanksgiving baskets, complete with a frozen turkey and all the traditional fixings, to personally deliver the special meals to CDTC families throughout Broward County.

“We are proud to support more than 1,200 CDTC families who depend on us each year to brighten the holiday with a traditional holiday meal,” said Ana Calderon Randazzo PhD., executive director of Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center. “This year is particularly significant as we celebrate 30 years of community service. We are incredibly thankful to all our volunteers and sponsors for their continued support this year, and we wish all our families a joyous holiday.”

Each year, hundreds of dedicated volunteers form a brigade of cars and pop their trunks to pick up their Thanksgiving baskets curbside at CDTC’s parking garage, located at 1401 South Federal Highway, for contactless delivery to families in need.

Sponsors include the Spirit Airlines Charitable Foundation, American Express, Amazon, BBX Capital Foundation, Pediatric Associates, MacEdwards Produce & Company, Inc., UKG, Hooters, Healthrise, Community Care Plan, FPL and AssociatesMD.

“Caring for a child with special needs is an important but immensely stressful job, and anything we can do to lighten the burden for our families is an important part of our mission here at CDTC,” Randazzo added.

Those interested in supporting the Thanksgiving Basket Brigade through volunteer meal delivery or donations are invited to visit childrensdiagnostic.com/basket-brigade. Donations as of $30 will feed a family of four a festive Thanksgiving meal. Funds received over and above the budget of the annual Thanksgiving Basket Brigade will be contributed to CDTC’s general fund, which supports CDTC medical and dental clinics, case management and emergency services for children and families with special needs.
