Selman Breitman’s Insurance Group Will Reorganize as Selman, Leichenger, Edson, Hsu, Newman & Moore

The law firm of Selman Breitman LLP will wind down effective January 1, 2023, and the firm’s industry leading insurance practice group will continue as a new firm named Selman, Leichenger, Edson, Hsu, Newman & Moore LLP. With offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, and Arizona, the firm will continue to handle insurance coverage matters for the insurance industry nationwide. The new firm will continue to use the “Selman Law” branding.

Neil Selman, Selman Breitman’s founding partner, said, “I am delighted to announce this exciting time for our firm, which will continue  to provide counsel and litigation services relating to insurance coverage and related issues as well as providing the insurance industry with the same high-quality, strategic guidance that has been the hallmark of the firm’s practice for decades. The decision to change direction in this manner was made collectively and amicably by our firm leadership and all of us remain steadfast and collegial colleagues.”

As of January 1, 2023, Selman will continue his relationship with the new firm as Of Counsel and will be turning over firm management to Co-Managing Partners Sheryl W. Leichenger and Eldon S. Edson. Additional named partners are Linda Wendell Hsu, who will lead the San Francisco office, and Gregory J. Newman, and Meka Moore. The new Selman firm will be a majority women-owned business.

The lawyers from Selman Breitman’s liability defense litigation group will join the highly regarded national defense firm of Hawkins, Parnell & Young. “There is a historical tie between Selman Breitman and the Hawkins Parnell & Young firm, as Al Parnell and I met decades ago and remain good friends to this day. So, at a very personal level, the liability defense group’s move to Hawkins Parnell in January seems sort of an alignment of the stars, and a very natural combination,” added Selman.

Leichenger agreed, “We will continue to be invested in the success of our partners and we look forward to working together on many matters that require the involvement of both defense and coverage counsel.”
