The Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS® (GCAAR) has endorsed Marc Elrich for Montgomery County Executive, as well as 10 candidates for the Montgomery County Council who are running in the November 8 general election. The selected candidates are:

  • County Executive: Marc Elrich
  • Council At-Large: Gabe Albornoz
  • Council At-Large: Evan Glass
  • Council At-Large: Will Jawando
  • Council At-Large: Laurie-Anne Sayles
  • District 1: Andrew Friedson
  • District 2: Marilyn Balcombe
  • District 3: Sidney Katz
  • District 4: Kate Stewart
  • District 6: Natali Fani-Gonzalez
  • District 7: Dawn Luedtke

GCAAR did not make an endorsement for District 5.

GCAAR’s Political and Campaign Affairs Committee (PCAC) spent many hours researching and meeting with the candidates vying to serve the Montgomery County community. Based on that process, the committee determined its final selections for the general election based on each candidate’s shared vision for the future with GCAAR.

Around the country, we’re facing rising inequity in housing – and Montgomery County is no different. Numerous reports have shown that, without a precipitous increase in production and preservation, the problem is expected to get worse.

As the Council expands to 11 seats (7 District, 4 At-Large), Montgomery County residents will get to choose the candidates that directly reflect their communities’ interests and ideals. Coupled with the seats that are opening due to term limits, residents will have the opportunity to lay a robust foundation on which to build the county’s future.

Additional details about each candidate can be found on GCAAR’s website.
