Community Action Council of Howard County Reimagines the 2022 Holland Awards

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) announced its annual Holland Awards are to be held on Tuesday, October 11. The organization’s President, Tracy Broccolino, will serve as the evenings keynote speaker. Formerly held at Turf Valley Resort, CAC is excited to celebrate the local community by hosting this years’ event at the Main Street Ballroom in Old Ellicott City.

The awards, named in honor of Reverend John W. Holland, have traditionally been formatted as a formal banquet; however, CAC is reinventing the event to be more interactive.

“We are so excited to return to an in-person Holland Awards! Coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is an almost tangible enthusiasm to engage throughout the community.” Said Valerie Weitz, CAC’s Director of Community Engagement, “We felt this is the perfect opportunity to move on this energy and redesign the event to be a fun-filled celebration for Howard County.”

This year, CAC will be honoring Dr. Maura Rossman with a Humanitarian Award. In her position as a Health Officer with the Howard County Health Department, Dr. Rossman has demonstrated immense dedication to enhancing the lives of Howard County residents; advocating for community health throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, CAC will be awarding the Howard County Fire and Rescue Services (HCFRS) and the Howard County Police Department (HCPD) with Service Awards for their continual commitment to serving the local community despite the civil uncertainties of the past year. awards will be accepted on behalf of both respective departments by HCFRS Chief Winston and HCPD Chief Der.

Attendees can expect delicious food and drinks catered by local businesses Ellicott Distilling Co., Manor Hill Brewing, The Wine Bin, and Southern Style Bistro- exclusive provider of Judge’s Bench restaurant. Additional exciting features will include live music by PixieViolin, a photo station, lawn games, and more.
