WEST CHESTER, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Meradia, the industry-leading consultancy for investment performance transformation, has hired Alicia H. Spencer, CIPM. Spencer joins a growing practice that includes Jonathan A. Boersma, CFA, who was hired in Q1 2022. This team expands Meradia’s advisory services to address operational challenges firms face as they comply with the Global Investment Performance Standards and other performance-related global regulations.
Spencer has over 19 years of functional and technical experience with performance measurement and the GIPS standards. Most recently, she was Executive Director, Head of GIPS at Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM). Previously, Spencer served as Partner at ACA Group’s Performance Services Division. Spencer has helped firms spanning multiple industry segments implement operational best practices and scalable operating models.
“Competitive pressures, technology advancements and the changing regulatory environment force investment managers to reevaluate their performance operating models. For 25 years, Meradia has helped firms across the globe transform their investment performance capabilities. We continue to evolve our services in response to our clients’ changing needs,” said Scott A. Wybranski, CFA, Meradia’s President and CEO. “Alicia’s expertise will add significant value to our clients and materially contribute to our growing GIPS and Regulatory Advisory team.”
A recognized industry expert, Spencer has spoken extensively on GIPS standards, best practices for model performance, internal controls for marketing performance returns, preparing for an SEC examination and performance system considerations. Firms looking to the GIPS standards and other industry best practices to improve operating efficiencies and mature their oversight of investment performance will benefit from Spencer’s experience with asset managers, asset owners, OCIO’s, and pension funds.
“Especially as we near the new SEC marketing rule compliance deadline, more firms are implementing composites and adopting the GIPS standards to promote investment performance,” said Boersma. “Alicia brings a well-rounded perspective and deep technical understanding to those going through this process and to our GIPS advisory team as a whole.”
“Investors are demanding timely, accurate performance data like never before,” said Spencer. “As part of Meradia, I am eager to help performance teams expand their capabilities and exceed their clients’ expectations.”
