Charlotte’s First New Museum In Over A Decade, The Museum Of Illusions Slatted For November Opening

Museum of IllusionsⓇ, originator of illusions “edutainment” museums is closer to an official opening date, projecting its Charlotte debut for November 2022. The state-of-the-art museum, the first Charlotte has seen in over a decade, is designed for visitors of all ages to enjoy mind-bending optical illusions, holograms, brain-teasing exhibits and interactive illusion rooms based on math, science and art.

 “As the museum of Illusions moves closer to opening, our excitement grows as well,” said Jonathan Benjamin, CEO of Museum of Illusions. “We have new exhibits that will premiere for the very first time and couldn’t imagine a better place to launch them than the city of Charlotte.”

The 6,300 square-foot museum will serve as the birthplace to multiple new style and design concepts that will go on to be featured in future Museum of Illusions locations worldwide.

 These include:

  • There are more than 70 exhibits located throughout the Charlotte Museum of Illusions

  • New exhibits such as the “Tricky Spiral” and the “Mirage” will be presented for the first time

  • Guides to explain the illusions and assist with photography will be positioned through the museum

  • Separated exhibits are connected by a large gathering space with AVC throughout, available for event bookings

  • An enhanced gift shop where visitors can purchase games and merchandise

The Uptown location at 601 S. Tryon Street joins other popular destinations including the Mint Museum, Bank of America Stadium, Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and the NASCAR Hall of Fame in providing education and entertainment to both visitors and residents of Charlotte.

Open seven days a week, the Charlotte location will employ a team of approximately twenty and is currently interviewing for the General Manager and Marketing and Sales Manager. Represented by local public relations agency Rein Communications, the museum will host two preview events for media, business leaders, educators and city officials.

There are currently 37 Museum of Illusions locations open and operating across 25 countries, including the United States, Canada, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, China, Korea, India and more, with 20 locations slated to open soon.
