Road To Responsibility’s Making Lives Better – Better Together Gala Returns In Record-Breaking Fashion

Road to Responsibility (RTR; http://roadtoresponsibility.org), one of the region’s largest and most successful nonprofit organizations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, announced today that their 34th Annual “Making Lives Better – Better Together” Gala, held in-person for the first time since 2019 on Thursday, September 15, at Granite Links in Quincy, broke an all-time record for the event, raising over $400,000 in support of the organization.

This year’s annual mission-driven event was attended by more than 250 business and civic leaders, community members, and friends and supporters of RTR. Features of the evening included live music from the Evan Goodrow Band, a champagne wall sponsored by Hingham Jewelers, a Plinko-inspired game, mobile bidding auction, and dinner as well as a dessert buffet, coffee and dancing.  Candy O’Terry, a radio broadcaster, podcaster, singer, songwriter, and speaker coach, emceed the event.

Additionally, a video program entitled “Ben & Andrew – The Influence of Trust” highlighted the special relationship between an RTR client and caregiver, and demonstrated how the organization has made an incredibly positive impact on the individual and his family.  RTR staff was celebrated throughout the evening for the tremendously caring and compassionate work they provide on a daily basis.  The video can be viewed at https://youtu.be/adssZLJCIEc or on the RTR website.

This gala theme – “Better Together” – is a spin on previous years’ theme of “Making Lives Better,” combined with an acknowledgement of being back in person together for the first time in three years.

Sponsors for the 34th Annual “Making Lives Better” Gala include Xerox Business Solutions, Apothecare, VHS Transportation/Patriot Investment Corp., and The Parsons & Benoit Family.

“The feeling of joy at seeing everyone come together and support our organization cannot be overstated,” said Chris White, Ed.D., CEO of Road to Responsibility.  “The last few years have tested all of us, but still we have much to be thankful for.  We are especially humbled and so very grateful to everyone for this outpouring of incredible generosity – this support will make such a positive impact on so many people’s lives.”

About Road to Responsibility, Inc.

Celebrating over 30 years of making lives better, Road to Responsibility, Inc. (RTR) was established in 1988 with the overarching belief that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve to have full, rich, and rewarding lives in the community, and therefore works to provide the means, the opportunity, and the support necessary to allow citizens with disabilities to take their place as productive members of the community.  RTR offers residential, work/employment, day habilitation and other day supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  RTR supports individuals with very diverse needs, including those with significant challenges who would otherwise go unserved if not for RTR.  It succeeds where other organizations often fail, through the use of an integrated clinical behavioral approach.  This model has proven successful and yielded positive results for the organization and the individuals served.

Road to Responsibility offers services to almost all the towns and communities throughout the South Shore and South Coast of Massachusetts, operates 49 residences as well as co-operative and supportive living apartments, and manages nine day-service locations that focus on education, employment, and community enrichment.  Road to Responsibility’s main office is located at 1831 Ocean Street, Marshfield, MA.  For more information, please visit www.roadtoresponsibility.org.
