Cozen O’Connor Names 11 New Shareholders

Paul Connell is a member in the firm’s nationally-recognized State Attorney General practice, helping clients resolve complex regulatory issues across a wide range of industries, with particular emphasis on pharmacy, pharmaceuticals, health care, manufacturing and technology. Paul draws on his multifaceted experience as a former deputy state attorney general, trial lawyer, and strategic adviser to defend clients in high-stakes, multi-state investigations and regulatory enforcement matters brought by regulators.

Jason Domark focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on international litigation, fiduciary litigation, and real estate-related litigation. Jason has created and managed worldwide litigation strategies for multinational corporations and individuals in disputes involving U.S., European, South American, Caribbean, and Asian jurisdictions. Jason frequently litigates fiduciary duty issues for corporations, partnerships, trusts, professionals, and other entities and individuals. He has also represented numerous developers, contractors, and land owners in all manner of real estate related disputes, including construction and design issues, delay claims, turnover litigation, easement rights, and eminent domain proceedings.

Matthew Glazer counsels and represents his clients, which include large health care service providers, financial institutions, manufacturers, tech companies, and corporate directors and executives, in a wide variety of complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts including real estate, toxic tort, product liability, construction, and breach of contract matters. He has successfully tried hundreds of cases, both civil and criminal, and helps companies and individuals navigate government investigations, implement compliance programs, and defend against criminal charges.

Maureen Holland focuses her practice on Title IX and civil rights investigations, such as reports of sexual assault, harassment, stalking, interpersonal violence, discrimination, retaliation, and other forms of prohibited conduct under Title IX, the Clery Act, and other state and federal laws. Maureen has served as Interim Title IX Coordinator at Baylor University, Interim Director of Investigations at a large state university, and is a third-party equity consultant for Michigan State University. She regularly delivers training on federal compliance and effective practices for Title IX coordinators, investigators, and decision-makers.

James (Jim) Kwartnik concentrates his practice on construction. Aided by his business background, Jim has experience drafting and negotiating a wide array of construction, renovation, architectural services, design-build, engineering, and consulting contracts from both sides of the table. Jim has extensive experience counseling and resolving disputes for owners, developers, contractors, construction managers, subcontractors and design professionals. He has worked on projects in numerous sectors of the construction industry, including commercial office towers, luxury condominiums and apartment buildings, hotels, industrial facilities, cannabis facilities, power plants, and infrastructure construction.

Robert Magovern is Co-Vice Chair of the firm’s Transportation & Trade practice. Robert’s practice focuses on counseling U.S. and foreign companies and trade associations on a variety of domestic and international antitrust and trade regulation issues, representing clients before U.S. federal agencies, as well as foreign governments and international organizations. Robert has developed corporate and association antitrust compliance programs, and has represented businesses involved in civil and criminal government antitrust investigations. As part of his regulatory compliance practice, Robert also serves as counsel to Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies and commercial and political entities on federal regulatory, administrative, and public procurement issues.

Mariah Passarelli focuses her practice on a variety of labor and employment and higher education law matters, from employment contracts to complex litigation in administrative proceedings, state, and federal courts. She has represented employers in claims under Title IX, Title VII, 42 U.S.C. § 1981, PHRA, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, FCRA, and OSHA, and she has defended universities, hospitals, and oil and gas companies in state-wide class and collective actions. Mariah also counsels companies and education institutions on litigation avoidance, anti-discrimination, and anti-bullying and she reviews and drafts employee handbooks, student handbooks, and personnel policies.

Pamela Pengelley is the office managing counsel of Cozen O’Connor LLP’s Toronto office. She focuses her practice on large complex commercial and industrial property loss litigation and arbitration, with a concentration on the construction, mining, and energy sectors. Pamela is also the editor of Cozen O’Connor’s Canadian Subrogation and Recovery Alerts, and a contributor for Cozen O’Connor’s Subrogation & Recovery Blog.

Adam Silverman represents a variety of regional and national developers, including several real estate investment trusts, in matters including the development of high-rise office towers, shopping centers, warehouses, and mixed-use developments, as well as portfolio acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and merger transactions. He also represents borrowers in matters ranging from structured project finance to secured and securitized loan transactions and loan workouts, as well as landlords and tenants in office, retail, and industrial leasing transactions, including complex build-to-suit transactions and lease workout transactions.

Susan Stauss represents major insurance and annuity companies in cases involving complex issues presented by structured settlements, as well as exposure created by the secondary market for life insurance. Susan is also part of the team serving as counsel to the National Structured Settlements Trade Association (NSSTA), is a member of the NSSTA Legal Committee, and speaks on structured settlement issues nationwide.

Jeff Vogel focuses his practice on strategic and operational matters affecting the U.S. maritime industry and on government contracts across all industries. In the maritime space, Jeff represents ocean carriers and maritime stakeholders in regulatory and financial matters before government regulatory bodies. In his government contracts practice, Jeff represents clients in the aviation, defense, engineering, health care, information technology, maritime, security services, and translation services industries.
