Bringing Boston Entrepreneurs To The Table

The Catered Affair, New England’s premiere caterer and experiential event designer, introduces Community Table, an innovative initiative focused on building a sustainable, diverse workforce in the local food service and hospitality industry. By identifying talent in the neighborhoods of Boston and uncovering new sources of high-quality products from local entrepreneurs, The Catered Affair will lead the industry in closing the opportunity gap by partnering with and investing in community-based companies.

Community Table is working directly with business owners in Boston to innovate menus with unique flavors and specialty items not available from national vendors, while at the same time supporting local communities with the investment in these partnerships,” explains The Catered Affair’s Vice President, Ken Barrett-Sweet. “The Catered Affair is shining a spotlight on the stories and flavors of talented local entrepreneurs that display brilliance in their culinary craftsmanship, and we are thrilled at the potential as we expand this program.”

Combined with significant community investments, as well as an ongoing partnership with The Boys and Girls Club of Boston, Community Table continues to amplify mentorship programs and fellowships for Boston residents interested in executive leadership tracks in hospitality management, while maintaining its dedication to providing education and opportunities to local kids and young adults.

“After almost twenty years of involvement with the BGCB, I am excited to create a brand-new connection with club members,” shares Holly Safford, President of The Catered Affair. “We will launch a culinary program at the Chelsea Club featuring hands-on cooking classes that integrate the bounty of the club’s seasonal gardens to inspire our local youth to consider careers in culinary and hospitality industries. With an emphasis on creating healthy eating habits and education on food and nutrition, we will create menus and prepare dishes to be served at club events.”

This Fall, The Catered Affair will bring together Community Table neighbors for an exciting welcome event that will highlight the mission and some of the key entrepreneurs, partners and community members.
