Catania Oils Hosts 32nd Annual Golf Tournament For Cancer Research

The Basile family, owners of Catania Oils, one of the Northeast’s largest processors and packagers of plant-based oils, today announced its 32nd Annual Basile Family Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Shaker Hills Country Club in Harvard, MA. Since its inception more than three decades ago, the event has raised more than $1 million to benefit the Jimmy Fund, supporting adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Since 1989, the Basile family’s friends, employees and business associates have gathered for a day of celebration, remembrance and golf to raise funds to help stop cancer in its tracks. The idea for the tournament came after Robert and Ann, third-generation owners of Catania Oils, lost their brother, Joseph D. Basile, to Leukemia. “This tournament has become a significant part of our family legacy,” noted Ann Basile. “It’s a fitting tribute to Joe that we come together every year to help other families that have to deal with this horrible illness.”

Joseph Basile, Catania Oils’ President, and nephew to the late Joseph D. Basile, agrees. “Our tournament has grown in both size and donations each year, and we’re thankful to pay it forward in the hopes that one day, together, we’ll be able to beat this disease.”

100% of the proceeds from this event will support adult and pediatric cancer research and care at the world-renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Catania Oils, the driving force behind the event’s success, has a motto of “one more dollar than the year before.” This slogan has helped them consistently step up to increase their fundraising for the Jimmy Fund.

“We are grateful for the longtime partnership and tremendous fundraising efforts of the Basile Family Memorial Golf Tournament, which last year crossed the $1 million fundraising mark since the tournament’s inception,” said Amy McCallum, Assistant Vice President, Jimmy Fund Golf. “Every dollar raised supports lifesaving research and compassionate patient care for families facing a cancer diagnosis.”

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT

The tournament is a Shotgun Four Person Scramble played on Shaker Hills’ spectacular course layout.

Prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive and hole-in-one. Opportunities to win unique raffle and silent auction items will be available throughout the day.
