Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center Celebrates 25 Years With Ribbon-Cutting

The Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center, which works to increase the number of health care providers serving Maryland’s rural Eastern Shore, will hold a grand ribbon-cutting celebration and after-hours mixer celebrating the center’s 25-year anniversary and reintroducing the center to the community.

When: Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Where:

Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center
814 Chesapeake Drive
Cambridge, Maryland

The celebration will take place on Rural Provider Recruitment Day established by Gov. Larry Hogan this year to recognize the Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center’s leadership and efforts to recruit, retain and train health care professionals for employment on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Congress established area health education centers in the 1970s to address shortages of health care providers, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and public health workers. Today, over 235 centers serve almost every state, including the Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center opened in 1997 to serve Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
