GCAAR Offers Downloadable Guide to Home Financing Opportunities

The Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS® (GCAAR) today announced the availability of a free, downloadable guide to home financing for homebuyers. This guide offers tips that can make the American dream attainable for homebuyers who may need extra assistance.

Launched as part of GCAAR’s recognition of June as Homeownership Month, “Home Financing 101: GCAAR’s guide to financing opportunities in D.C. and Maryland” can be accessed on the GCAAR website at gcaar.com/resources.

“This is just one way we’re making homeownership more accessible in our community,” said 2022 GCAAR President Harrison Beacher. “‘Home Financing 101’ is an excellent resource for educating prospective homebuyers about their financing options prior to embarking on the home-buying process.”

Available in PDF format, the guide helps buyers learn about financing options available in Montgomery County and the District of Columbia. GCAAR reached out to its affiliate members in the mortgage lending industry to identify special financing options and programs that may not be as well known.

“The new guide should be a useful tool for new homebuyers, as it explores financing options and programs first-time homebuyers may not be aware of,” said GCAAR CEO Edward R. Krauze. “Using this guide, buyers can find a solid roadmap to begin the home-buying process.”

Krauze said the “Home Financing 101” guide supplements other GCAAR programs targeting first-time homebuyers, particularly individuals from traditionally underserved communities, such as its partnership with Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB) to provide homeownership/money management webinars and an affiliation with Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland (HFHMM) to support homeowner education for recipients of Habitat for Humanity homes.
