CoreNet Global’s New York City Chapter Holds “Swimming with Sharks” Event

CoreNet Global’s New York City Chapter (CoreNet NYC) recently hosted the “Swimming With Sharks” event showcasing the technologies that are helping to shape the workplace of the future. The event took place at the Haworth Showroom, located at 125 Park Avenue, and featured four PropTech companies who pitched their technologies to three occupiers, or “Sharks.”

The event was moderated by Michael Beckerman, CEO and CRETech & CRETech Climate, and featured Alexandra Liz, Vice President of Corporate Real Estate and Workplace at Blackstone; Mark Nisbett, President & CEO of People Places and Spaces; and Lou Nowikas, Vice President of Corporate Real Estate at Hearst as the Sharks. The PropTech companies included:

  • Metrikus, whose building efficiency software can connect with any sensor or system to provide revolutionary insights that make spaces smarter, safer and more sustainable.
  • Locatee, a workplace analytics provider that leverages office occupancy data from multiple sources, processes them using unique patented technology and beautifully visualizes them all in one places.
  • Augmented Construction, a Design and Construction Consultant that combines leverages the power of Building Information Modeling combined with cutting edge technology to increase projects’ ROI.
  • CrowdComfort, a company that optimizes building performance and efficiency in order to boost employee productivity, safety and comfort while reducing the number of wasted resources.

Following their presentations, the Sharks and in-person audience voted on the winner for the best disruptive value proposition and presentation. Locatee ultimately won the event, showcasing features such as the company’s biweekly workplace analytics data that it has been collecting on a global scale since 2020 and its Team Analytics function that allows firms to visualize which teams use offices and how often. Locatee provides commercial real estate leaders with a wide variety of other actionable insights along with white papers, reports, case studies, podcasts, webinars/seminars and other forms of thought leadership that can be accessed through its website.
