KR Architecture & Interiors Oversees Design of New Calvary Light Church in Abington

KR Architecture & Interiors (www.krarch.com), an Abington, MA-based architectural firm, has served as architectural design firm for the design of Calvary Light Church, currently under construction at 204 Brockton Avenue, Abington.

The 1560 square foot, single-story building previously served as a real estate office. Under the direction of architect Krista Manna, owner of KR Architecture & Interiors, the church sought a change in use occupancy from business to “assembly space,” which required incorporating some additional ADA (Americans With Disability Act) exits, and three additional bathrooms. Also the design includes a new welcome center.

According to Manna, construction should take about two months. “There were some interesting challenges in the design, as the building was not originally designed as a church,” she said. Additional features include opening up the space, the addition of a small platform for the Pastor and other speakers, specific seating to accommodate a congregation, and an AV booth for lighting control.

She added, “It’s always satisfying to help a client re-purpose a building for a new use and to see the community approve of this new use also. It’s been a pleasure to work with Calvary Light Church and we welcome them to Abington.”
