Baker Newman Noyes Appoints Jada Desmarais Senior Manager and Erica Napolitano Senior Advisor

Baker Newman Noyes (BNN), a nationally recognized top 100 accounting and advisory firm, today announced three new senior hires in its healthcare advisory practice to lead the firm’s new clinical advisory services unit. Marking the expansion of its healthcare advisory practice, these additions will grow the firm’s service options and expertise in clinical operations and oncology, providing clients with unique, and tailored services beyond financial and operational improvement.

Jada Desmarais joins the firm as senior manager in the healthcare practice while Erica Napolitano has been hired as senior advisor. Both will work out of BNN’s Portsmouth office while serving clients across New England. Additionally, the firm announced Dr. Myhanh Nguyen will work as a consultant in the role of medical director, bringing more than 14 years of clinical experience to the advisory group.

Desmarais and Napolitano’s expertise will add value across BNN’s business lines, as they collaborate with the firm’s business and technology advisory and transaction advisory practices to support the multi-faceted challenges and opportunities facing healthcare clients. Desmarais and Napolitano will lead the firm’s new oncology advisory services group, which provides insight to providers around operations, strategic planning, financial navigation, insurance verification workflow, price estimates, denial prevention and reduction and adoption of value-based payer models and clinical pathways.

“The addition of these key senior leaders will greatly enhance the depth of our oncology financial navigation services group and our healthcare advisory practice as a whole,” said BNN Healthcare Advisory Group Principal & Lead Eric Wetherell. “Jada, Erica and Dr. Nguyen bring years of operational and managerial experience in the healthcare industry to our practice group.”

Desmarais is a strategic thinker skilled at navigating complex situations and identifying opportunities to improve operational processes. She has a proven track record of increasing revenue growth and profitability and supporting successful go-to market strategies for new services. Prior to joining BNN, Desmarais held a variety of senior leadership roles, most recently at New England Cancer Specialists, a Dana-Farber Cancer Institute affiliate. Over the span of her career she’s managed multi-million dollar projects, developed and implemented strategic plans, led process improvement initiatives, launched new programs and managed an acquisition at a large regional hospital in New Hampshire. She received her MBA from the University of New Hampshire.

Napolitano has over 20 years of experience in healthcare operations and management. She is a creative thinker, with an unmatched ability to develop strategic solutions around process improvement with root cause analysis.  Prior to joining BNN, Napolitano held a variety of roles in revenue cycle and oncology including Financial Advocacy Counselor at the Seacoast Cancer Center, a Massachusetts General Hospital Subsidiary and Hematology/Surgical Oncology Manager at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. In her career, Napolitano has developed and implemented financial clearance and navigation programs, created new service lines, and managed multiple accreditations to completion.

A former regional medical director overseeing three service lines at both Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Parkland Medical Center, Dr. Nguyen provides expertise in executive-level leadership, patient experience and communication, budgeting and strategic planning. She has additional experience as chief medical information officer at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and as a hospitalist at multiple hospitals throughout New Hampshire’s Seacoast region including York Hospital, where she still practices. She holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Kansas and an MBA from Auburn University.

“Each new addition will help provide practical insight, process improvements and expertise to guide our clients through the complex environment that healthcare groups work with every day,” said Rob Gilbert, senior manager of BNN’s Healthcare Advisory Group.  “We are excited to have all three of them join our growing team.”

BNN’s healthcare advisory group is comprised of a team of 13 seasoned professionals with backgrounds in healthcare finance and strategy, workflow redesign and optimization, Medicare, Medicaid and third-party reimbursement, revenue management and clinical documentation and compliance.
