The Claro Group Bolsters Disputes & Investigations Practice with Team of Healthcare Experts

CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Claro Group, a financial advisory and management consulting firm, has added a select team of healthcare industry experts to its growing Disputes & Investigations practice.

Melissa Scott joins Claro as a Managing Director, leading the Firm’s new Healthcare Consulting efforts for clients spanning provider-based organizations, payers, and law firms. Ms. Scott’s specialties include: healthcare operations, forensic analytics, litigation support, provider / payer reimbursement disputes, internal audit, regulatory compliance, investigations, monitorships, and related government mandated claims and transactional reviews. Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Ms. Scott is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and a Certified Healthcare Internal Audit Professional (CHIAP). She has served as faculty for the Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Special Investigation Unit (SIU) agents. She has also been published in several industry journals, in addition to authoring a chapter for the American Health Lawyers Association.

As an expert witness in the healthcare revenue cycle, Ms. Scott has testified at trial and deposition in matters pending before the U.S. District Courts in multiple states. She also participates in private arbitration and mediation matters, and assists clients with corporate decision-making.

Prior to joining Claro, Ms. Scott held senior positions at, among others, B. Riley Advisory Services, Change Healthcare, and Sinaiko Healthcare Consulting.

Joining Ms. Scott in transitioning to Claro are Directors Jeannie O’Donnell and Nicole King. Ms. O’Donnell is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), CHC, CPC, and CHIAP. Her specialties include healthcare operations, forensic accounting, forensic analytics, litigation support, provider/payer reimbursement disputes, internal audit, information systems audit, risk assessments, privacy and security, regulatory compliance, investigations, monitorships, and related government mandated claims and transactional reviews.

Ms. King, a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), specializes in healthcare operations, forensic analytics, litigation support, payer reimbursement disputes, medical record and claim audit, healthcare charging and reimbursement methodologies, regulatory compliance, investigations, and related government mandated claims and transactional reviews. She has served in leadership roles related to hospital revenue integrity, quality and risk management, risk adjustment and government reporting requirements.
