Grow Founder Jules Zanoni To Open Pop-Up Children’s Store At Camp North End

Featuring a Curated Selection of Toys, Trinkets and Treasures Primarily for Ages 2 Through 12

ATCO Properties & Management announced today that it has finalized a new lease with specialty children’s retail pop-up “fun. a kid’s shop by grow” at Camp North End’s Raceway Building located at 1824 Statesville Avenue, Suite 109.

The shop is the “little sister” to plant business “grow”, which was founded by Chicago-native Jules Zanoni and opened in the Bunkhouse in Camp North End’s Mount District in 2020. Grow sells houseplants and plant accessories, jewelry, candles, and gifts in addition to pottery and wall hangings from independent artists.

Zanoni’s next endeavor, fun, will specialize in providing the community with a local option for purchasing high-quality, curated children’s merchandise primarily for ages 2 through 12. In the words of Zanoni, fun is for that timeless gift that is “a little something different”. This includes items such as wooden toys, blocks, scooters, bikes, select clothing and more product offerings to come such as onsite gift-wrapping. Putting her green thumb to use, customers can also expect colorful planters, Venus flytraps and other like-minded offerings. When possible, items will be locally sourced, and there will be a focus on sustainable brands and minimal use of plastic packaging.

“Creating a welcoming space filled with unique children’s gifts is something I’ve been dreaming about doing for a long time, and I’m thrilled that it’s finally coming to life at Camp North End,” said Zanoni. “We’re constantly restocking our children’s merchandise at grow, and this space provides an amazing opportunity to build out this area of our business even further while meeting demand in the local market for specialty gifts.”

The store will have the same motto as grow – “keep going, keep growing” – and that is exactly what Zanoni is doing at Camp North End. The pop-up concept will occupy approximately 600 square feet with a similar inviting aesthetic as at the plant shop – high ceilings and an even brighter and more colorful palette. With a soft opening set for early June, current plans call for the store to operate through September.

Located between tenants Explicit Salon and Prism Supply Co, and strategically positioned near Camp North End’s child-friendly public spaces, directly outside of fun families can find a protected and comfortable place for kids to play and enjoy. As the summer months kick off, programming and new installations fit for all ages are planned for the location.

Tommy Mann, development director at Camp North End, added: “We are delighted to welcome fun to the Raceway Building, and know that Jules’ collection of one-of-a-kind children’s gifts and merchandise will be an instant draw. Camp North End was created as a destination for all ages, and we are certain this will only add to the family-friendly atmosphere we’re continuing to cultivate through retail offerings and ongoing programming.”

In addition to fun, Camp North End has made a series of leasing announcements this year, including: The Revelry, a new event venue by Best Impressions at 701 Keswick Avenue; four new F&B concepts by BayHaven Restaurant Group (Passage Seafood, The Abyss, Bird Is The Word and B.A.D.) as well as the expansion of specialty roaster, HEX Coffee at 201 Camp Road; immersive traveling exhibition Crayola IDEAworks at The Ford Building; sports performance training and fitness gym, You Vs Yourself (YVY) at 1701 North Graham Street; and NoDa Company Canteen’s expansion into a brick and mortar location at The Raceway Building.

Developed by ATCO, Camp North End is a state-of-the-art creative development that is being designed and curated to serve the most innovative companies in Charlotte. Building ownership was represented by Aaron Ligon and Chapman Chastain at Ascent Real Estate Partners.
