During the past four months, GCAAR’s Political and Campaign Affairs Committee (PCAC) researched the 60 candidates vying to serve the Montgomery County community and met with 33 to determine its final selections based on their shared vision for the future with GCAAR.
Given none of the Republican primary races for the Montgomery County Council are contested, GCAAR’s PCAC will not be endorsing in those races; however, the Committee will re-evaluate general election endorsements after the July 19 primary election.
Around the country, we’re facing rising inequity in housing – and Montgomery County is no different. Numerous reports have shown that, without a precipitous increase in production and preservation, the problem is expected to get worse.
As the Council expands to 11 seats (7 District, 4 At-Large), Montgomery County residents will get to choose the candidates that directly reflect their communities’ interests and ideals. Coupled with the seats that are opening due to term limits, residents will have the opportunity to build a robust foundation on which to build the county’s future.
Additional details about each candidate can be found on GCAAR’s website.
