Lifestyle Retailer Celebrating Black Women-Owned Businesses Set to Open at Atlantic Station

The Sistah Shop will open its doors the weekend of Juneteenth

The Sistah Shop, a lifestyle retailer promoting brands founded by women of color, will open its second location at Atlanta’s premier mixed-use destination, Atlantic Station. The store will feature products from over 75 local and national Black woman-owned businesses, with items including clothing & accessories, skincare, home goods, art, and curated collectibles. The 4,040-square-foot shop will open its doors at 265 18th St., Suite 4180, with a grand opening celebration set for Juneteenth weekend on Friday, June 17.

“Atlantic Station caters to a diverse community and The Sistah Shop will serve as an excellent addition to our vibrant tenant mix,” said Starr Cumming, retail director of specialty leasing. “Over the last year, our leasing team has focused on providing opportunities to local small businesses and entrepreneurs on property to further our place as the heart of Atlanta. We look forward to welcoming The Sistah Shop this summer as we continue to offer impactful experiences for our guests.”

The Sistah Shop will sell products on a consignment basis during the week and will allow local vendors to host pop-ups on the weekends. This hybrid model allows The Sistah Shop to showcase more than 500 brands annually. The unique shop has been dubbed a “sanctuary for sisterhood,” and draws in customers with its clean, modern concept featuring shelves lining the walls with products, clothing racks in the center, a photo booth and an upbeat playlist that echoes through the storefront while customers shop. The Sistah Shop has already received an influx of applications from vendors who are eager to participate.

“Atlanta has long been a focus market for our brand, so it was a no-brainer to open our second location here,” said Aisha Taylor Issah, Founder & CEO of Sistahs in Business Expo. “Atlantic Station is a true community destination for Atlanta, with a diverse customer base and a great mix of shops, entertainment and dining options. Through our new location, we’re thrilled to offer local Black women-owned companies a platform to share their products and services with the city!”

The Sistah Shop is an initiative by The Sistahs in Business Expo, the nation’s only multi-city small business community created to celebrate and educate entrepreneurial women of color. Their mission is carried out through the multi-city expos and virtual showcases through Sistahs in Business courses and events, Sistahs in Business Pitch Competitions and Sistahs in Business Foundation. The Sistah Shop opened its first store in New Jersey and recently celebrated its first anniversary. The Atlantic Station location will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to  9 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 7 p.m.

The Sistah Shop is the latest retailer to join Atlantic Station’s diverse tenant mix. The mixed-use destination recently welcomed Derek Automotive, an electric vehicle company, to the property, with plans to celebrate the openings of Rosé Bistro and Champagne Bar, YOYOSO and Atlanta Breakfast Club later this year.
