Harford County Association of REALTORS Announces Fair Housing Poster Contest Winners

In honor of April being Fair Housing Month, the Harford County Association of REALTORS® (HarCAR) recently hosted its annual poster contest to educate students about fair housing. Students from across Harford County were invited to participate. This year’s theme was “Fair Housing Opens Doors.”

Over 60 students submitted posters displaying their interpretation of the “Fair Housing Opens Doors” theme. The winners of the contest were recognized at a Harford County Council meeting. Each winner also received a Target gift card.

First place went to Evie Slutzky, second place to Jayda Taylor, and third place to Lily Hannon. All of whom are students at Fountain Green Elementary. “As Realtors® we advocate for many issues, fair housing being one of the most important. Many do not realize that fair housing is a challenge numerous communities face,” said HarCAR President Heather Schafer-Adkins. “The poster contest is an incredible opportunity to not only spread awareness, but also for local students to express their creativity and use their talents to promote equal housing for all.”

All participants received goodie bags complete with pencils, bookmarks, snacks, piggy banks, and sunglasses provided by HarCAR affiliate members and partners, coupons to local establishments, and a pizza party.

“The Harford County Association of REALTORS® greatly appreciates the effort and dedication put forth by our participants this year. We look forward to continuing to engage community members by hosting more contests in the future.” said HarCAR CEO Kathy McFadden.
