Mid-Atlantic Esports Conferences Crowns Winners of Rocket League, League of Legend Competitions

The 12-week season culminated in the annual Spring Summit event presented by Game Gym

The Mid-Atlantic Esports Conference (MAEC), owned and operated by Game Gym, crowned George Mason University, Randolph Macon University, and the University of North America as the champions of the spring MAEC season.

George Mason University won the Capitol Division of the MAEC Rocket League competition, Randolph Macon University won the Challenger Division of the MAEC Rocket League competition, and the University of North America won the MAEC League of Legends Competition.

“18 teams from 12 different schools in the DMV fought hard all season long, and we’re excited to be able to crown three champions at our Spring Summit,” Game Gym founder and CEO Josh Hafkin said. “We’re looking forward to the fall MAEC season which promises to be filled with even more close battles between colleges in the DC region.”

The MAEC was co-founded by Game Gym and Events DC in 2021. The MAEC is comprised of 16 schools across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Schools can field teams for Rocket League and League of Legends, and the league is an official partner conference in Riot Games’College League of Legends program. Each spring, the winner of the MAEC League of Legends Championship Tournament will receive an automatic bid to Riot’s College Championship field of 32.

The Spring Summit is one of three Triple Crown Events presented by Game Gym. This year, the event raised more than $4,000 to benefit Children’s National Hospital bringing the total raised above $34,000 since the series launched in 2020.

“Every year we look for new ways to benefit the kids at Children’s National Hospital,” Game Gym CEO and Founder Josh Hafkin said. “We’re proud to continue supporting the life-changing research at Children’s National and thank all of our incredible partners and donors.”

Game Gym’s Spring Summit was powered by the Virginia Youth Soccer Association, Wizards District Gaming, Washington Justice, HyperX, MedStar Health, University of Maryland’s Discovery District, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, and Gamer Advantage Eyewear.
