Farmers Market At Camp North End Returns For A Second Year

North End Farmers Market, Back on Wednesday, April 6th, Brings Fresh Local and Regional Produce, Proteins and Artisanal Food Products to the Community

ATCO Properties & Management, an owner and operator of high-quality office, residential and mixed-use properties across the U.S., and developer of Camp North End, is pleased to announce that North End Farmers Market will be back for a second year starting Wednesday, April 6th, 2022.

The expansive outdoor marketplace, which will once again be operated by Farmers Market Management Services (FMMS), will bring together 12 anchor vendors and 7 rotating vendors weekly. The line-up of merchants will consist of local farmers, ranchers, food artisans, and crafters and will feature a mix of new and returning retailers.

North End Farmers Market will operate every Wednesday from 4-8pm April through October on Keswick Avenue between Camp North End’s Mount and Keswick districts off the Graham Street entrance. This year will also feature live culinary demonstrations from chefs and kid-friendly programming on a biweekly basis.

“We are thrilled to bring North End Farmers Market back to Camp North End following such a successful inaugural season,” said Tommy Mann, Development Director of Camp North End. “In addition to supporting our local vendors, the marketplace serves as a vital resource for the broader North End community by providing convenient access to fresh food.”

Lynn S. Caldwell, Director and Co-Founder of Farmers Market Management Services added: “North End Farmers Market is eager for the second season at Camp North End to begin. The community has really embraced our vibrant and diverse roster of vendors who are committed to our success. We are also very grateful for our volunteers from JT Williams Secondary Montessori School.”

At the market, community members participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will once again be able to redeem benefits at a 2-for-1 exchange via funding from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NC and Mecklenburg County Public Health. Using their EBT card, SNAP recipients will receive two dollars in market coins for every dollar they redeem. The County also works in concert with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Food Policy Council on this initiative.

Out of more than 15 farmers markets throughout Charlotte, North End Farmers Market had one of the highest rates of SNAP and EBT benefits redemption – redeeming $10,861 worth of benefits during its 2021 season.

“Springtime in Charlotte means great weather and best of all, the reopening of local farmers’ markets,” said Shannon Emmanuel, Board Member at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Food Policy. “There is no better way to create positive, trusting relationships in our community than a market like North End Farmers Market which provides our community with fresh, local foods and the opportunity to utilize SNAP (and double bucks) benefits. I hope everyone will take the time to visit this unique market and recognize their efforts to strengthen our local economy and provide healthy food access.”
