South Florida Financial Tech Entrepreneur Flies High With Biller Genie

(L-R): EO SOFLO members and GrowFL winners Evan Nierman, Joey Princz and Tom Aronica

South Florida financial technology entrepreneur Tom Aronica has his Biller Genie cloud-based accounts receivable platform flying high with rapid growth, awards and success.

Since its inception in 2020, the Miami-based company has expanded from 5 to 30 employees, with 10 more hires planned later in 2022. Biller Genie ended 2021 with 500 active subscribers and will have more than 2,000 by the end of 2022.  The company is on pace to book close to $2 million in revenue this year while managing more than $2 billion in subscriber invoice volume.

Aronica projects Biller Genie to be a $100 million business by the end of 2023.

Biller Genie recently was honored at the 11th annual GrowFL Florida Companies To Watch Awards, which recognizes 50 Florida companies for their “outstanding leadership, culture and overall growth.”

The program honors impressive second-stage companies from throughout the state for developing valuable products and services, creating quality jobs, enriching communities, and broadening new industries throughout Florida.

Aronica, a member of Entrepreneurs’ Organization South Florida, was joined by three other EO SOFLO member companies recognized at the event: Red Banyan public relations, Trembly Law and Wrecking Ball digital studios.

“It says a lot about our chapter members that out of only 50 companies honored from across the state, four of them are in EO SOFLO,” said Jason Loeb, current EO SOFLO president and founder of Sudsies dry cleaning company. “These four GrowFL winners and all of our members are some of the most innovative entrepreneurs and visionary business owners you will find anywhere.”

As one of the largest EO chapters in the world, EO SOFLO has almost 300 members in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties who run businesses with more than 10,000 employees and $2 billion in annual revenues.

Aronica, who has been a member since 2018, says his EO experience has been a big factor in Biller Genie’s growth. “Hearing from other entrepreneurs who have gone through the process really helps to avoid mistakes, fix problems and seize opportunities.”

A number of EO member companies already are utilizing Biller Genie technology and services, and Aronica has teamed up in a strategic partnership with fellow EO SOFLO member and financial technology entrepreneur Lil Roberts, who founded online bookkeeping and accounting platform Xendoo.

“Tom has developed a great technology with Biller Genie that eliminates a costly pain point for so many businesses,” said Roberts, who also is EO SOFLO’s incoming president. “It doesn’t surprise any of us that he has so quickly expanded and racked up the success and awards.”

In addition to GrowFL, some of Biller Genie’s honors include 1st Place in the 2020 Miami Herald Startup Pitch Competition, the 2021 South Florida Business Journal H. Wayne Huizenga Startup Award, the Electronic Transactions Association TRANSACT NexTen award, the Innovation Award from CPA Practice Advisor,  the Money 20/20 Startup Academy, the NEAA Catapult Award and more.

Aronica credits a strong support network such as EO SOFLO, great employees and South Florida’s robust, diverse entrepreneurial ecosystem with a “melting pot of talent” for fueling Biller Genie’s rapid success. “All of this has helped us develop powerful but simple platform that our customers love.”
