SDI Architecture’s Design Director Prasanna Named To Forbes Prestigious 30 Under 30 Annual List

Hyderabad’s Own Prasanna Lachagari Achieves Illustrious Accolade

SDI Architecture, a Boston-based international architectural and interior design firm that develops distinct, custom designs, centered upon the user’s experience, with locations in Boston, Massachusetts and Hyderabad, India, announced today that the firm partner and Design Director, Prasanna Lachagari, has been awarded Forbes prestigious 30 Under 30 accolade. The well-known and highly coveted award “identifies the new guard, the young innovators, trailblazers and disruptors remaking our world.”

Prasanna Lachagari, who also co-founded the company’s sister location in Asia, grew-up in Hyderabad, India, studying drawing and painting from an early age. Her love of art gave her a leg-up when she transitioned to the architectural field, due to her deep understanding of space and form. In India, she earned her Bachelors in Architecture while teaching architectural sketching simultaneously and went on to become a licensed architect. Lachagari then moved to the US where she earned her LEED GA and received commendations of excellence on her Master’s Thesis from the Boston Architectural College.

“It is an incredible honor to be named one of the Forbes 30 Under 30, and I am thrilled to receive this highly-regarded distinction,” said Prasanna. “When I look at my fellow winners, as well as the many distinguished alumni of this award, I am truly excited and humbled to appear alongside such a talented and accomplished group of individuals.”

According to Forbes, the first edition of the 30 Under 30 appeared a decade ago. “That first list featured names like Kevin Systrom, soon to sell Instagram to Facebook for $1 billion; Lena Dunham, who had yet to debut on HBO’s Girls; Daniel Ek, who had just launched Spotify in the U.S.; journalist Ronan Farrow, years before he exposed Harvey Weinstein in the New Yorker; and actor Donald Glover, then mostly known as a cast member in the cult comedy Community.”

Now a member of this elite Forbes group, Prasanna is currently working on a non-profit effort to support the citizens of Kakinada, India by designing planters and other home accessories that can be made by the members of the 13 villages surrounding Kakinada, providing stable jobs and income for many people. In addition to job creation, Prasanna is also working to build a school which will benefit the local community. The Kakinada Academy, designed by SDI Architecture, will focus on giving underprivileged children a free education. Prasanna has taken a position on the board and is assisting in raising funds for these humanitarian efforts to create occupations and improve the lives of many.

Prasanna and her team are currently working with a developer in Idaho alongside local Native American tribes to design a Southern Idaho Legacy Center, which includes an educational facility, a food hall and a heritage museum.  Other current projects include designing data centers, biotech labs, office spaces and high-end residential and hospitality projects across the U.S.

“We are so proud of Prasanna for earning this achievement and grateful to have her on our team,” said Ben Williams, President of SDI Architecture. “She is very deserving of this award. Not only is she an incredible designer but Prasnna also has a big heart and always aims to give back in whatever way she can. She has made SDI a better place.”

SDI is currently expanding the Hyderabad office, marked recently by the addition of Abhinav Sharma as Principal Architect of SDI Design, India. “Prasanna’s skillset is an inspiration to me,” said Sharma, “I am excited to be a part of the growing SDI team and to service clients here and in the US.”
