Over 25 bicycles and tricycles and several toys were collected by CXRE, a leading full suite commercial real estate brokerage firm, to help support the Houston Police Department’s Blue Santa Program. In order to accommodate the donation delivery the firm rented a 10′ truck that was packed to the brim and enlisted the help to load the donations from friends and family.
The Blue Santa program was established in 1984 when Houston police officers were dispatched to a shoplifting call and they were notified the man was taking toys to provide Christmas gifts for his children. On the same day as the call, the officers raised a collection of toys to help the man’s family for Christmas, and the program commenced to provide help for additional families in the greater Houston area.
The fundraiser was led by Shannon Dubuc, Executive Assistant in the Houston office. Dubuc stated “It was wonderful to help the Blue Santa program to achieve their mission and to witness the gratitude of the Houston community with all of us working together to help change the lives of those in need.” She also added “Within 30 minutes of arriving at the donation site there were hundreds of toys and donors continued to bring items throughout the evening.”
