The Highlands School Announces Limited Openings for Rolling Admissions

The Highlands School, an EF (Executive Function) smart school in Harford County that specializes in educating bright and creative children with dyslexia, ADHD, and other language-based learning differences, has a few openings for mid-year enrollment.

“At The Highlands School, we offer rolling admissions to ensure that parents have an option to better their child’s education year-round, “said Director of Admissions Suzanne Lippa. “Oftentimes, parents get report cards back, see that their child is struggling, and begin searching for different education options. At The Highlands School, we have a proven track record in helping students who previously struggled to thrive; they can catch up to their grade level and feel more confident than ever.”

The Highlands School serves children K-12 and is the first EF smart school in the region. As an EF smart school, The Highlands School integrates strategies to strengthen executive function skills into each ofits academic programs.

Additionally, The Highlands School offers small class sizes with a 3:1 student to teacher ratio. The structured and sequential academic program is individualized for each student, with an emphasis on multisensory instruction.

“Prior to sending my child to The Highlands School, I was frustrated and disappointed with their grades. I was sometimes afraid to open his report cards,” said Kelly K, a Highlands School student parent. “The Highlands School’s unique curriculum is tailored to my child’s needs and since attending they are excelling. It was the first time we ever felt success at report card time. Before attending The Highlands, my child used to dread school, now they look forward to going and feel a sense of accomplishment. We are all so much happier now.”

In addition to in-classroom learning, unique to The Highlands School is its Hands on Highlands programming. The rotating program engages students in experiential, hands-on learning opportunities that facilitate critical thinking skills in the following areas: Growing Greater (agriculture/horticulture), Building Today (woodworking), Tasting Success (cooking and nutrition), and Lego Robotics.

“Unique programming like Hands on Highlands has taught my child critical real-life skills such as teamwork, patience, and leadership. We couldn’t be more thankful for how The Highlands School has helped our child develop,” said Robyn V, a Highlands School student parent.
