Robert Wallace Recognized by The Daily Record as 2021 Icon Honors Award Recipient

The Daily Record has selected Robert L. Wallace, CEO, and founder of Bithenergy, Inc., BithGroup, Inc., and EntreTeach Learning Systems, LLC., a 2021 Icon Honors recipient.

Established in 2017, Icon Honors recognizes Maryland business leaders, over the age of 60, for their notable success and demonstration of strong leadership within and outside their fields. The honorees have moved their businesses and the state of Maryland forward by growing jobs and making a difference in the community.

“I am humbled and moved by being recognized as a 2021 Icon Honors recipient alongside such a distinguished list of Baltimore leaders who are each dedicated toward bettering the city’s business communities, neighborhoods, and residents. Many of the awardees have been mentors and friends of mine for many years. To share this stage with them is one of the greatest experiences I have ever been blessed with in my career,” said Robert L. Wallace, 2021 Icon Honors recipient. “All praises to God, my wife, my children, and the teams at Bithenergy and BithGroup Technologies for making our continued success in our Baltimore communities possible.”

Robert L. Wallace, born and raised inside Baltimore City’s Cherry Hill neighborhood, is an accomplished engineer, entrepreneur, author, keynote speaker, and internationally known business consultant. Wallace has founded three successful companies – Bithenergy, Inc., BithGroup Technologies, Inc., and EntreTeach Learning Systems, LLC, and provided mentorship to entrepreneurs and students both locally and globally. Recently, Wallace ran a strong campaign for Mayor of Baltimore as an Independent candidate in 2020.

To be eligible for Icon Honors, honorees must have a long-standing commitment to the Maryland business community. Honorees must also have a sustained commitment to community service and mentoring. They may be in the workforce or retired and must hold or have held senior management-level positions with significant authority in decision-making for their organization. The winners were selected by the editors of The Daily Record.

“Sustained leadership and integrity are just two of many ways to describe this year’s Icon Honors recipients. They have withstood the whims and caprices of the moment to build what is lasting and durable,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, senior group publisher of The Daily Record. “We at The Daily Record are proud to honor their impressive record of accomplishment, leadership and vision. Congratulations to the honorees.”

About Bithenergy, Inc.

Bithenergy, based in Baltimore, Maryland, is focused on building a smarter energy infrastructure, responsibly reducing carbon emissions, and producing and delivering clean energy solutions from a variety of renewable sources at competitive prices.  The idea for the creation of Bithenergy was nurtured in the childhood mind of Robert L. Wallace, the founder and current CEO of Bithenergy. Born and raised in the Cherry Hill community of South Baltimore, Wallace experienced first-hand the devasting impact that environmental racism has on communities of color.  That experience motivated him to study engineering and create technical solutions that would one day play a role in developing energy related technologies that would support clean living environments for all communities, regardless of ethnicity or socio-economic status. Recognized as the fastest growing business located in America’s inner cities in 2015 by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) and Fortune Magazine, Bithenergy is organized into three strategic business units – energy data analytics, energy consulting and engineering, and renewable energy power generation. In 2021 the company created the Clean Energy Fund (CEF) to attract $250 million of investment funds to build over 220 MW of Community Solar projects.  These projects will not only accelerate the penetration of renewable energy systems in low to moderate income communities but will promote sustainable job creation and wealth creation opportunities for those same communities.
