SHIFT Launches Latch, a Dynamic Storytelling Platform for Businesses

What if business communication could be as interesting and engaging as social media?

New communication tools and methods of sharing stories have exploded over the past ten years, but internal business communication remains the same. Despite technological advances in multi-media storytelling and the rise of social media, many of today’s business owners are tasked with motivating employees – who may now be working offsite or remotely – and building a corporate culture using outdated, passive tools.

SHIFT, a tech-enabled consulting firm, announced today the launch of a new tech platform called Latch. Through a unique approach to storytelling, Latch unlocks the power of interactive media for internal business communications.

Latch lets leaders and employees create closed-loop listening systems and digital storytelling experiences through weekly pulse surveys, videos, data insights and AI. Through Latch, companies can bring messages to life through stories that foster employee engagement and drive individual, team and organizational performance.

The launch of Latch comes after SHIFT completed the development of a software platform it acquired from Avanoo earlier this year. SHIFT will expand the corporate use of Latch beyond the 60,000+ user base established by Avanoo.

Joe Mechlinski, CEO of SHIFT, said Latch caught SHIFT’s interest because of its validation in the marketplace. “Given the Avanoo platform’s user experience, our 20-year history of helping to bring cultures to life, and COVID’s disruption of the workplace, we saw Latch as lightening in a bottle. It is the answer to solving the major issues leaders are facing today like Zoom fatigue, the ‘Great Resignation’ and lack of authentic connection in hybrid and remote environments.”

Leaders are looking for creative and effective ways to authentically connect people, especially in today’s rapidly changing work environments, Mechlinski said, and “effective communication among teams is the proven, time-tested, number one strategy to acquire and retain talent. Research has shown employees who feel a sense of belonging and clarity are more likely to be highly engaged. That engagement drives performance.”

SHIFT has worked with and sold ancillary technology solutions before, but this is the company’s first proprietary technology product. “We’ve always used technology to augment and scale impact within our consulting practice. We were excited to bring Latch into SHIFT because this is a product that furthers our core business strategies and is a great fit for our vision.”

Over its 20-year history, SHIFT has helped hundreds of clients transform and grow their businesses. Today, the company’s core business is its consulting practice, specializing in strategy, employee engagement, performance and innovation.

“Latch gives us the ability to help clients illustrate important initiatives and measure the impact of those messages,” said Mechlinski. “And it’s doing this in a way that’s never been done before in the corporate environment. We believe Latch is the bridge to the future of business communication.”
