During the month of October, Broward Health is hosting the following educational events and health screenings for Breast Cancer Awareness Month to support raise awareness and educate the community:
October 7: Broward Health and Gilda’s Club hosts Prevención y Detección Temprana del Cáncer de Mama, in Spanish at 3 p.m. led by Alia Abdulla, D.O., FACS, breast surgical oncologist at Broward Health. The virtual lecture is free. Call 954-763-6776.
October 9 and 23: Broward Health has Mammos and Mocktails on the menu on Saturday, October 9 and Saturday, October 23 from 8 a.m. to noon. Free mammograms and pink lemonade mocktails will be offered at the Lillian S. Wells Women’s Health Center, 1600 S. Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. Women must be pre-qualified and registered in advance for the mammogram screening. To be screened and registered, call 954-762-3649.
October 19: Alia Abdulla, D.O., FACS, breast surgical oncologist, Marshal E. Liberfarb, M.D., radiation oncologist, and Mehmet F. Hepgur, M.D., hematology-oncology for Broward Health will lead a free virtual discussion on Preventing and Treating Breast Cancer on Tuesday, October 19 at 6 p.m. An audience Q & A session will follow the presentation.
