John Andreasen Joins Freeborn’s Chicago Office as Associate in the Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Practice Group

Freeborn & Peters LLP welcomes John Andreasen to the firm as an associate in the Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Practice Group in the Chicago office.

DeRousse, Partner and Leader of the Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Practice Group. “John brings invaluable legal experience, having worked as a Law Clerk to The Honorable Deborah Thorne, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and will be a strong addition to the team. The firm is actively growing several practice groups across offices, and John’s arrival supports the bankruptcy team’s already excellent group of practitioners.”

When working as a Law Clerk to The Honorable Deborah Thorne, Andreasen wrote and edited drafts of published opinions, written rulings, and other bench memoranda for cases and adversary proceedings under Chapters 7, 11, and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. Prior to his Clerkship, Andreasen also served as a Legal Extern for The Honorable Deborah Thorne, as a Legal Intern for Farm Credit Illinois and as a Legal Extern to The Honorable Raymond Mitchell, Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division.

Andreasen received his B.S. from Central Michigan University and his J.D. (magna cum laude) from University of Illinois College of Law. While in law school, Andreasen served as Notes Editor of The Elder Law Journal, served as President of the Bankruptcy Law Society from 2018 – 2019, participated in the Duberstein Moot Court Competition, and received the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence in 2019.
