NeighborWorks Housing Solutions’ Elvira Caldeira Named a “40 Under 40” by Cape & Plymouth Business

NeighborWorks® Housing Solutions (NHS), the leading housing service provider in southern Massachusetts, proudly announces that Home Ownership and Lending Director Elvira Caldeira has been selected as a 2021 “40 Under 40” award winner by Cape & Plymouth Business.

The awards spotlight the region’s top young business leaders who excel in their industry and show dynamic leadership. This program, now in its 12th year, honors distinguished businesspeople under the age of 40 who have made a mark in the region at an extraordinarily young age.

A resident of Taunton, Caldeira has been with NeighborWorks Housing Solutions since 2015 as the Home Ownership and Lending Director.  In this role, she helps clients who are starting their journey to becoming a homeowner, educating them on the process and steps to go through, and advocating for them to ensure they are in the most appropriate lending program.

As someone who speaks four languages herself (English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Cape Verdean Creole), she works closely with those in the bilingual community, guiding them on which program is right for their specific needs, and helping to break down communication barriers and connect clients with other bilingual lenders.

Caldeira, who holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the New England College of Business and Finance, is involved with the Cape Verdean Association, a center where community members can be connected with various resources.  She is also a member of three Partnership Programs – Fall River, New Bedford, and Brockton – which work together to connect nonprofit organizations with appropriate lenders.

Additionally, Caldeira is a member of the selection committee of Citizens Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) – a nonprofit based out of Boston that oversees a group of nonprofits to make sure all education requirements are the same and workshop curricula meet the appropriate standards.

“I am proud to be part of NeighborWorks Housing Solutions, and have an opportunity to give back to the community,” said Calderia. “The work we do is so important, and I am happy to be part of an organization that provides housing resources and education to our region.”

More than 150 nominations for the “40 Under 40” awards were received this year according to Cape & Plymouth Business Media Publisher and CEO Dale Shadbegian, adding, “The 2021 class best exemplifies an entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to community service and potential to positively contribute to the future of the region.”

All “40 Under 40” honorees will be celebrated at a special event Thursday, September 30, at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa in Hyannis.

“The entire NeighborWorks Housing Solutions team extends the heartiest of congratulations to Elvira for being recognized as one of the ‘40 Under 40.’  This is quite an impressive list of honorees,” said Robert Corley, CEO of NeighborWorks Housing Solutions. “She radiates compassion, empathy, and understanding, and is an incredible example of leadership.”
