Baltimore Cyber Range Wins Cybersecurity Diversity Trailblazer Award at Fifth Annual Maryland Cybersecurity Awards

Baltimore Cyber Range (Baltimore Cyber) received the Cybersecurity Diversity Trailblazer Award during the 2021 Maryland Cybersecurity Awards celebration, presented by the Cybersecurity Association of Maryland. The award recognizes a company or organization that makes careers in Maryland’s cybersecurity sector more accessible to underrepresented groups or underserved markets.

“We’re honored that Maryland’s cybersecurity community has recognized Baltimore Cyber with the Cybersecurity Diversity Trailblazers Award,” said Bruce Spector, Baltimore Cyber chairman. “This award acknowledges our success in addressing the growing demand for skilled cybersecurity workers, as well as our focus on training those who might not otherwise have access to high-demand, high-salaried, high-satisfaction jobs.”

The first stand-alone, hands-on cybersecurity training center in the U.S., Baltimore Cyber was launched in 2017 to address the critical shortage of cyber warriors and to equip those in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan Area with the skills to gain well-paying cybersecurity career opportunities. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs for information security analysts in the U.S. are projected to grow by 33 percent by 2030, versus an eight percent average job growth rate for all occupations. In 2020, information security analysts earned a median annual salary of $103,590.

Baltimore Cyber provides a “hyper-realistic” training platform that simulates every aspect of a cyberattack – from network components to ransomware to server shutdown – so that those completing the training are fully prepared for in-demand positions on Day One. To date, Baltimore Cyber has trained more than 500 people for jobs and careers in IT and cybersecurity. Baltimore Cyber also offers a training employment pipeline to help workers gain new skills and advance in their careers. The training center is located at 3700 Koppers Street, Suite 500, in Baltimore, Maryland.

“We are pleased to name Baltimore Cyber Range as a winner in the 2021 Maryland Cybersecurity Awards,” said Gregg Smith, CAMI board chairman and CEO of Atilla Security. “The winners comprise an elite group of cybersecurity leaders in the State of Maryland, and have contributed immensely to Maryland’s growth as a national cybersecurity powerhouse.”

The annual Maryland Cybersecurity Awards recognize leading Maryland-based cybersecurity companies for industry innovations as well as contributions to the state’s cybersecurity ecosystem. For this year’s program, 84 nominations were considered by a panel of 12 independent judges.
