Loeb & Loeb Appoints Tanya Forsheit As Privacy Co-Chair

Loeb & Loeb is pleased to announce the arrival of partner Tanya Forsheit, who joins the firm as a co-chair of its Privacy, Security & Data Innovations practice. Recognized as one of the country’s top privacy and data security lawyers, Forsheit has advised on high-profile matters involving confidential data and other sensitive information, particularly in the advertising, technology and sourcing space — vital experience, given that the continuing intersection of these areas remains a key focus of the firm’s Advanced Media and Technology department. She joins New York-based Jessica Lee as co-head of the practice, establishing a strong bicoastal leadership presence.

“Tanya is an exceptional privacy lawyer who is well versed in U.S. and international privacy laws,” said Lee, who has chaired Loeb’s Privacy, Security & Data Innovations practice. “Her ability to interpret and deftly navigate the extensive patchwork of state, federal and international regulations will be an invaluable asset to all of our clients, which include the world’s largest media companies, advertisers and agencies. I’m excited to continue to add to the breadth and depth of our privacy bench.”

Forsheit represents a wide range of clients as they protect, market and monetize their digital products and content, including their matters related to interest-based advertising, privacy policies, mobile apps, cloud computing, smart devices and data analytics. She has advised on hundreds of information technology deals for both service providers and enterprise purchasers. Forsheit is also routinely called upon to provide counsel on high-profile and time-sensitive security events. She also advises on the compliance requirements of the new California Privacy Rights Act taking effect in January 2023.

“Now more than ever before, our clients across industries are navigating the opportunities and risks presented by the use of data in their business activities,” said Alyse Pelavin, managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office. “We are thrilled to welcome her to our West Coast-based team.”

Forsheit is certified as both an Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and a Privacy Technologist (CIPT) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and is a frequent speaker on privacy- and data-related issues.

“Loeb & Loeb is a nationally recognized market leader in the advertising, technology, privacy and cybersecurity space, and my skill set will complement the team well,” said Forsheit. “I look forward to working closely with the firm’s deep bench of privacy and cybersecurity lawyers to assist clients with their most pressing issues in the digital marketplace.”

Forsheit joins Loeb & Loeb from Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz PC, where she was chair of its Privacy & Data Security Group and the supervising partner of the Los Angeles office. Forsheit earned a B.A., cum laude, from Duke University and her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
