Maryland’s Top Crab Cake Challenge Set for Sept. 21 at Laurel Park

BALTIMORE–Who makes the best crab cakes and crab soup in Maryland? You decide at the 7th Annual Maryland’s Top Crab Cake Challenge, Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Laurel Park(198 Laurel Race Track Rd., Laurel, MD 20725).

This culinary extravaganza is a silent auction fundraiser for the National Fallen Firefighter’s Foundation–a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the well-being of families and co-workers of Fire Heroes who die in the line of duty.

Approximately 10 restaurants and caterers – including Al’s Seafood, Turner’s Beltway Bistro, Chesapeake Celebrations Catering, Dorina’s Kitchen, Food by Fire Catering and Murraydine Catering– will compete for the prestigious title.

In addition to sampling and voting on the crab dishes, guests can cool down with Bruster’s Real Ice Cream and Sistah’s Sweets complimented by flavors from Black Flag Brewing, Crooked Crab Brewing, Escutcheon Brewing, Raven Beer and Royal Rabbit Vineyards.

The event also will feature casino games, a DJ, an interactive photo booth, door prize drawings every 30 minutes, the silent auction and50-60 local business exhibitors. A post-event networking reception from 8 to 10 p.m. will feature live music from the Dave Tieff Duo along with an announcement of the crab cake and crab soup winners.

Admission is $25/person in advance or $35/person at the door, but guests can save $5 and also support the National Fallen Firefighter’s Foundation by registering with promo code “NFFF” at CrabCakeTasting.com.
