Annual “Golf Fore Habitat” at Premiere Marshfield Country Club

South Shore Habitat will host its annual golf tournament on October 4, at Marshfield Country Club. The tournament will begin at 9:00 am.

“This year marks the 35th anniversary of South Shore Habitat for Humanity,” said the organization’s Executive Director, Beth Lyons. “To honor this milestone we are inviting everyone to help Habitat partner families build affordable, safe homes of their own.

‘Golf Fore Habitat’ is just one more way to support Habitat, have fun and help make dreams come true.”

The day’s festivities are under the direction of tournament co-chairmen Al Marchionne, President of Marchionne Insurance and Peter Brown, President & CEO of Dedham Savings.

Tournament players will enjoy 18 holes of golf with cart on the private, premier championship course; unlimited use of practice range and putting green; a gourmet lunch and cocktails; and prizes for top winning foursomes along with closest to the pin and longest drive contests. Other highlights include a Hole in One Car, a complimentary whiskey tasting, and a player gift bag.

“Foursomes can choose ‘own ball’ or ‘scramble,’ which enables players of all levels to join in on the fun,” said Marchionne. “It’s a great day of golf for a great cause.”

About South Shore Habitat for Humanity

The Mission of South Shore Habitat for Humanity is to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter by partnering with families in need of affordable housing.  Families put in “sweat equity hours” alongside local volunteers on the building of their home and purchase the home with a 30-year, affordable mortgage. Homes do have a deed restriction that maintains the affordability status of each home in perpetuity. Habitat Family Partners are selected through a competitive underwriting process based on their ability to pay, willingness to partner, and their need for adequate housing. The organization’s headquarters are located at 20 Mathewson Drive in Weymouth, MA but they serve 35 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston. To date, South Shore Habitat for Humanity has delivered 58 homes to local families on the South Shore. To learn more or find out how to get involved, visit www.sshabitat.org or call 781-337-7744.
