Tenant Rep Veteran Chris Brown Returns to Savills North America in San Jose

Brown rejoins the San Jose office as senior managing director

Savills announced today that Chris Brown, one of Silicon Valley’s premier tenant representation brokers, has rejoined the firm as a senior managing director in San Jose.

Brown, who worked at the firm in 2015 after Savills acquired Cresa’s Silicon Valley office, returns to the company after a six-year tenure at Newmark. In his new role, Brown will advise leading companies and organizations on strategic real estate solutions throughout Silicon Valley, including San Jose, Palo Alto, Mountain View, Menlo Park, Santa Clara, Redwood City, and Cupertino.

“Chris is widely known across the Valley as one of the most respected and acclaimed tenant representation brokers,” said Steve Barker, Vice Chairman and San Francisco Branch Manager of Savills North America. “His deep bench of expertise will be invaluable as we help our clients navigate the post-pandemic office environment.”

During his 16-year commercial real estate career, Brown has represented a diverse client base ranging from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 companies. Since 2013, he has completed a total of 1.5 million square feet of transactions.

Brown’s most significant deals include a 450,000-square-foot logistics facility for a major consumer electronics company, a 131,000-square-foot headquarters relocation for a telecommunications corporation in Santa Clara, and a 150,000-square-foot office headquarters move for a leading engineering firm in Milpitas.

Commenting on today’s state of the market, Brown said: “Silicon Valley is shifting from a landlord’s market to a tenant’s market. As COVID restrictions ease and people return to the office, green shoots of recovery emerge across the entire region. Now is an incredible opportunity to assist our clients when they need us most.”

Brown’s return to Savills strengthens the firm’s capabilities and expertise in northern California. This year, the global commercial real estate company finalized a long-term, 301,019-square-foot lease for data services firm NetApp at the mixed-use Santana Row complex in San Jose.

Brown is an active member of the Association of Silicon Valley Brokers, and he serves on the boards of directors for Options for ALL and Marin Valentine’s Ball.
