David Nevins Interviews Scott Evensen, President of The Highlands School Board

Scott Evensen, president of The Highlands School board, is a Dulaney High School graduate who started his career in the manufacturing industry and later moved onto sales. After spending numerous years in sales, Scott was asked to start a phone marketing arm for a local mortgage business. Scott spent the remainder of his career in the mortgage business until retiring a few years ago. Since retiring, Scott has been actively involved in the growth and development of The Highlands School, an EF smart school that specializes in educating bright and creative children with dyslexia, ADHD, and other language-based learning differences. Scott has served as president of The Highlands School board for over three years.

About The Highlands School
The Highlands School is an independent, AIMS-accredited, K-12 program designed for students with dyslexia, ADHD, and language-based learning differences. Founded in 1996, The Highlands School was originally located in Street, Maryland. In 2007, we moved to our current state-of-the-art facility which is located on a beautiful 18-acre campus in Bel Air, Maryland that was once home to the Preakness-winning racehorse Deputed Testamony.

David is a Past President of the Board of Governors for the Center Club and is a former Chairman of the Board of Regents for the University System of Maryland, a position to which he was appointed by the Governor of Maryland. David has chaired the Maryland Public Broadcasting Commission and the Maryland Higher Education Loan Corporation, served as President of both the Jewish National Fund and the Towson Business Association and was a member of the PNC Bank board.
