CoreNet NYC Announces Formation of New Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee

The CoreNet Global New York City Chapter is excited to announce the formation of a new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. The mission of this committee is to promote diversity, equity and inclusion within the New York City real estate industry across race, gender, age, religion, creed and identity, as well as create a proactively inclusive committee that incorporates different gender, race, sexual orientation and multigenerational perspectives. The committee will be chaired by Cassandra Charles, Associate Director at Blue Stone Management.

“I am very excited that the chapter has decided to take this action,” said Charles. “Upgrading the task force to a committee emphasizes the organization’s intent and dedication to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The committee has a lot of work to do and are ready to put in the effort. We look forward to raising the level of awareness within and with those that associate with CoreNet NYC. This dream has come to fruition thanks to the efforts of Vice Chair Vijay Ramcharitar, Strategy Liaison Daniel Ahn, Membership Liaison Melissa Gaitan, Development Liaison Chris Albes and Marketing & Communications Liaison Rollins Stallworth III. I thank them all for their time and thought leadership.”

The committee will be initially focused on increasing the diversity of the chapter membership, collaborating with other committees to provide insight from a DEI perspective, increasing cultural education and awareness of the network and increasing dialogue and available platforms to host conversation regarding DEI initiatives outside of committee efforts.

“The inception of this committee in the New York City Chapter is a great step in promoting increased diversity and a more inclusive workforce within the corporate real estate industry,” said Neil Austin, CoreNet New York City Chapter Chair and Vice President, Real Estate Portfolio Management and Transaction Services for Omnicom Group Inc. “We look forward to this Committee’s leadership in delivering timely content to the Chapter’s membership around this important topic.”
