Chef Laurent Manrique Joins Scott’s Chowder House as Culinary Advisor

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Laurent Manrique, the well-known Bay Area chef and restaurateur, has joined Scott’s Chowder House as Culinary Advisor.

After taking the helm at San Francisco’s renowned Aqua in 2003, Manrique went on to lead the restaurant to Michelin-starred rankings for three consecutive years. Now co-owner of the popular Café de la Presse in downtown San Francisco, the celebrated chef is partnering with Scott’s Chowder House Owner Steve Mayer and Executive Chef Sammy Reyes in bringing delicious fresh seafood to today’s discerning casual food consumers.

“I’m delighted to join Steve and Sammy in creating a comfortable and welcoming eatery that offers great seafood in a great setting at a great price,” said Manrique. “Scott’s Chowder House has been curated to appeal to food enthusiasts of all ages, and I believe its emphasis on fresh, sustainable and healthy food choices signals a turning point for fast-casual restaurants in the Bay Area.”

Scott’s Chowder House is an offshoot of Scott’s Seafood, originally established in San Francisco in 1976 and long recognized for the freshness and quality of its seafood as well as a commitment to sustainability and community engagement. Scott’s Chowder House brings this same focus to its high-quality seafood menu but in a more casual, contemporary setting. Scott’s Chowder House’s signature soups, rolls and salads are available for dine-in, to-go or delivery, along with handcrafted beer and wine selections.

“I have been working with the families that started Scott’s Seafood since 1980 and I am very excited to bring the Scott’s Chowder House concept to market,“ said Mayer. “With Laurent’s help and Sammy’s oversight, we have a great team in place to build and grow this fantastic new brand.”

Scott’s Chowder House opened its first San Jose location on First Street in November 2020 and will mark its second location at Market Square with a ribbon-cutting on July 14, 2021. Future outlets are planned for Palo Alto and San Francisco.

“Scott’s is an integral part of San Jose’s downtown dining experience, and the opening of Scott’s Chowder House is a testament to how our downtown and city will be growing back better in the aftermath of the pandemic,” said Silicon Valley Organization President & CEO Derrick Seaver. “We look forward to enjoying their delicious and healthy food for years to come.”

Note: The grand opening and ribbon-cutting for Scott’s Chowder House Market Square will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 12:00-2:00PM at 111 West St. John’s Street.
