Lorien Health Services, a family-owned and operated assisted living/nursing home company and industry innovator, has opened its third ventilator unit at their Bulle Rock facility to expand its post-acute respiratory care to northern Maryland.
Bulle Rock’s ventilator unit is the first and only in Harford County and features the latest ventilatory technology staffed by a respiratory therapist who will be able to care for up to eight residents 24-hours per day, seven days per week.
“We are currently taking patients and already have plans to expand the 8-bed unit to 12. The need for ventilator units continues to increase as individuals and communities wrestle with respiratory symptoms from COVID, long-COVID, RSV, the flu, vehicular accidents, and more,” said Wayne Brannock, Chief Operating Officer. “We’re excited to expand our progressive respiratory care to Harford County and northern Maryland with this new ventilator unit and the goal is to provide top-quality respiratory care to those Maryland residents who will no longer need to leave the county to receive treatment.”
Lorien’s specialized medical team, is under the direction of a Board-Certified Pulmonologist. For those who cannot breathe or have difficulty breathing on their own, the ventilators can provide airway management to increase comfort with the goal of gradually reducing the dependency of ventilatory support.
In 1992, Lorien first led the way when it was the first skilled nursing facility to offer ventilator care in Maryland. Since then, Lorien has been highly regarded in the delivery of post-acute respiratory care, has set high standards in the industry, and is eager to be able to offer these same services at Bulle Rock.
