Full Course To Debunk Restaurant Industry Myths

Restaurant Coach Monte Silva and Full Course’s Lissa Bowen Debunk Myths Plaguing the Restaurant Industry

WHAT: Full Course, the restaurant and development group that helps restaurateurs build and innovate their brands, is hosting its next complimentary Rising Tide webinar: “SHIFT HAPPENS! 7 Strategies to Help Your Restaurant Crush the New Norm.”

On Wednesday, Nov. 30, restaurant coach and restaurateur Monte Silva joins Full Course Chief People and Culture Officer Lissa Bowen to debunk some of the false beliefs and myths that plague the restaurant industry, such as the need to work 60+ hours a week to be successful and the expense of marketing. The duo will help participants change their mindsets and develop strategies not only to survive but also to thrive in the new normal for restaurants.

After 15 years working in restaurants and 20 years as a restaurant operator, Silva rapidly rose through the ranks at Wolfgang Puck, where he went from bar manager to general manager in four years and was featured in David Steadman’s book “Beverage Biz is Show Biz.” This rapid rise came at a price—including burnout and divorce—and Silva was determined to find a better way of running restaurants while maintaining a work/life balance. He moved to Nashville, where his restaurants—including Acme Feed & Seed (the 31st highest-grossing restaurant in the country)—were consistently named in “best-of” categories in reader and writer polls at Nashville magazines. And he accomplished this all while maintaining the work/life balance he sought. Today, Silva is the managing partner of Steelbach in Tampa as well as an author, speaker, and restaurant coach who works with owners and executives across the U.S. to maximize success while maintaining a work/life balance.

At Full Course, Bowen oversees the company’s talent and culture and helps clients with their people and cultural practices. She works directly with clients to create an environment where people love to work, articulating that through their employee value proposition. She also works with clients on recruiting and retention practices, talent management, and creating and expanding innovative benefits.

Full Course’s monthly one-hour Rising Tide seminars invite all restaurant, food business, and guest service professionals to learn about the latest trends, tools, and best practices in the industry today. The seminars are designed to help restaurant industry professionals grow and scale their businesses because a rising tide lifts all boats.
