Skanska Recognized With STEP Diamond Award For Sixth Year In A Row By Carolina’s Associated Builders And Contractors

Skanska’s North Carolina office has received a STEP Diamond Award for the sixth year in a row for its outstanding safety and health efforts from Carolina’s Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

Founded in 1989 as a safety benchmarking and improvement tool, STEP is a world-class safety management system. Participating ABC member firms measure their safety processes and policies on 25 key components through a detailed questionnaire with the goal of implementing or enhancing safety programs that reduce jobsite incidents.

“Diamond is the highest level STEP award that a company can receive, and we are immensely proud that the hard work from our onsite teams and their accomplishments are being recognized for the sixth consecutive year,” said Greg Peele, executive vice president responsible for Skanska’s North Carolina and Virginia building operations. “One of Skanska’s guiding principles is ‘Care for Life’, and we are committed to embodying that on our work sites, in our offices and in the communities where we work. We strive to meet and exceed the highest health and safety standards in our industry so that team members arrive home safely every night.”

Operating from a regional headquarters in Durham, Skanska USA has completed nearly $2.9 billion worth of work in North Carolina and Virginia over the past 10 years and currently has over $640 million of work in progress in the two states.
