NY Based EdTech Launches Mental Health/Wellness Podcast w/ Celebrity Lineup

Today, Move This World announced the launch of season 4 of the podcast Move This World with Sara: Conversations in Social Emotional Learning. The podcast explores the challenges, ruptures, struggles, achievements and dreams of top business leaders, athletes, actors, comedians and their families have faced, and how they leaned on their social emotional skills – or lack thereof – to move forward.

Move This World is the leading provider of interactive social emotional learning (SEL) experiences. “Social emotional learning” is a phrase that has evolved to define a growing body of work critical to building resilient, happy, successful humans who can thrive under a real-world setting. According to the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning, all 50 states have adopted Pre-K SEL competencies. School districts like Metro Nashville Public Schools in TN, Charles County Public Schools in MD, and IDEA Schools across TX and LA are prioritizing this work not just for students, but for educators and families, too.

With the launch of this season, Sara Potler LaHayne, Founder & CEO of Move This World, explores conversations in emotional wellness with top business leaders, athletes, comedians, actors, musicians and their families. These leaders discuss how social emotional skills help them move forward and share advice for making mental health a priority in every home.

“It’s important to continue these conversations since there seems to be both growing support and growing confusion around social emotional learning and the practices that support our overall social, emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing. This season, our conversations highlight the lifelong impact these skills have, whether you’re a professional athlete, a reality TV star, or a business leader,” says host LaHayne.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, LaHayne is normalizing conversations around social, emotional, and mental wellness, diving into vulnerable topics related to mental health that listeners may not expect. For example, this season of Move This World with Sara: Conversations in Social Emotional Learning features probably one of the only interviews you’ll hear with Eric Decker, retired NFL player, that doesn’t discuss the Super Bowl. Instead, they discuss the values that are important to Decker’s family and the lessons he’s learned from sports and parenthood that keep him grounded.

“I felt like my personality, especially as a kid, was that I didn’t want to disappoint people. That was a struggle of learning how to deal with criticism, how to deal with failure at a young age. And then over time, as I matured emotionally and with great coaches, it’s like, okay, I get it. Now, I want to try to be as consistent as possible,” says Eric Decker, former NFL wide receiver.

Mental Health America finds that over 2.5 million youth in the U.S. have severe depression, with multiracial youth at greatest risk.
